BEHIND THE LENS

As an artist I look for beauty in every season of life. I try to capture the most special moments in a photo so that they won’t be forgotten.

I used to wonder why photography was considered an art form. A photo is a photo, you push a button and there is an image.

But there is a style and grace in the way an image is exposed, in capturing motion and the right timing, and the way a subject is framed, and the perspective from which the image is taken. Every person takes pictures differently. I saw that there is a difference between careless, mechanical photography, and organic, artful photographs in the hands of someone who loves their craft.

As more and more of my colleagues asked me to photograph their weddings and graduation photos, I realized how much I loved seeing people’s excitement when I show them the photos. A photograph is a window back into the past, and I mean to give them the best memories of their celebration.
